Champions in the Office: AEL Basketball BC Visits Wise Wolves

Wise Wolves is proud to be a sponsor of AEL Basketball BC — and last Friday, that partnership became something a little more personal.

Representatives and players from AEL stopped by the Wise Wolves office, bringing with them the Cyprus Basketball Cup. Our team had the chance to meet the players in person, hear the story of the final straight from those who played it, and take a few photos with the cup that’s been a long time coming.

A historic win

The 2025 Cyprus Basketball Cup final was decided by two points. AEL faced Keravnos at the T. Papadopoulos-Eleftheria stadium and claimed victory with a score of 81:79 — their 10th Cup title overall, and the first since 2009.

But the result alone doesn’t capture what made this win significant. Head coach Kalia Papadopoulou made history as the first female coach to win a title with a men’s basketball team in Europe. Her connection to AEL runs deep: she first stepped onto the court for the club at the age of 14, went on to become one of the most decorated players in Cypriot basketball history, and returned in 2023 to lead the men’s team. Winning the Cup with that same club — it’s a full-circle moment that goes well beyond sport.

Bringing the cup to the office

Hearing about a win like this is one thing. Having the team walk through your door with the trophy is another.
